Q. If you crossed a White German Shepherd and a Standard German Shepherd? Would you get a cross between the two, or would you get a couple of each color? Or would you just get one color? Let me know! Thanks.

A. By standard GSD I assume you probably mean black and tan? Actually, breeders of whites do this type of cross every few generations to reduce inbreeding. Most white GSDs aren't truly white; they do have pale pigment on the ear tips and spine, and they have normal black skin with brown eyes. It's thought to be a type of dilution at the C locus.Assuming the black and tan is not a carrier of white, you'd get black and tan pups. If the black and tan is a carrier of white, you'd get a litter with both B/Ts and whites. There's nothing wrong with a well bred white GSD.
